天津港是中国北方第一大港。港口的对外辐射力和影响力明显提高，天津港70%左右的货物吞吐量和50%以上的口岸进出口货值来自天津以外的各省区，已同世界上的180多个国家和地区的400多个港口有贸易往来，每月集装箱航班400余班。2006年吞吐量达到2.58亿吨，位居世界港口第6位，集装箱吞吐量达到595万标准箱，稳居世界集装箱港口前20强。

The Port of Tianjin is the largest port in northern China. The radiation and affection capacity of the port is increasing greatly, about 70% of the total throughput and over 50% of the import and export cargo value come from other provinces. The port has trade relation with more than 400 ports in over 180 countries and regions with 400 container ships called at the port monthly. In 2006, the total throughput of the port reached 258 million tons which ranked No. 6 in the world, and the container throughput reached 5.95 million teus which stood within top 20 in the world.
